D&D meets Mad Max in upcoming hellish adventure!

Wizards of the Coast just announced their next adventure module entitled Baldur’s Gate: Descent into Avernus. The adventure is meant for characters from level 1 to level 13, and will take adventurers from Baldur’s Gate, the Gotham of The Sword Coast, to Avernus, the 1st layer of the Baator, the Ninie Hells, ruled by the fallen angel Zariel. Players will have to navigate this fiery landscape where the eternal Blood War rages, encountering many powerful entities that call the Nine Hells home.

Jeremy Crawford, the lead designer doe Dungeons & Dragons 5E described the adventure module as “Dante’s Inferno meets Mad Max”, and new vehicle rules for Infernal War Machines support that claim! The adventure is said to be roleplay-heavy, and although characters usually visit Hell and other planes of existence on higher levels, the temptation of power that Devils offer through their contracts will certainly attract even the most righteous of characters, especially on lower levels, where the odds of surviving Avernus are overwhelmingly stacked against them.

Adventurers will have the chance to meet various warlords, friends and foes alike. A Night hag with Redcap minions, a  shady Rakshasa merchant, a Chain Devil deserter and many more NPCs await your characters as they traverse the Eternal Battlefield.

The main antagonist is the fallen angel turned archdevil Zariel, and the PCs could even try to redeem this tragic character, as the culmination of the module confronts them with her.

Keeping up with the recent trend, Wizards of the Coast will release the adventure with an alternate cover by Hydro74, which will be available only in game stores alongside the standard version which is available everywhere.
In addition, players and DMs can separately buy a custom dice pack themed around Baldur’s Gate: Descent into Avernus. The box, which can used as a dice tray, comes with a set of themed dice, a map of Avernus, and more.

Baldur’s Gate: Descent into Avernus is planned to be released on September 17th 2019.
